Release of Information about Students to the Public
Unless an objection to any of the specific items of information following is submitted in writing before September 16, 2025, by a parent, guardian or eligible student, the South Country Central School District, herewith, gives notice of its intent to release upon request without written consent; provide, or publish in local school, or student newspapers, magazines, school Web pages, yearbooks or other publications, daily or weekly newspapers, athletic programs, musical or theatrical programs, or news releases, or to the military (11th and 12th grade students), any or all of the following information pertaining to students: name of student, names of parents, address, age, major field of study, telephone listing, electronic mail address, date and place of birth, grade level, enrollment status, dates of attendance, weight and height of members of athletic teams, degrees, the most recent educational agency or institution attended, student ID number, user ID, photographs, student participation in recognized school activities, extracurricular activities and sports programs, academic honors, achievements, awards, scholarships and similar information. In addition, the school district intends to display, post, and show videotapes of students at school functions and/or activities for use with classroom instruction. Under Title 34 C.F.R., Part 99, parents, legal guardians or eligible students who do not desire release of any of the above directory information during the 2025-2026 school year must make specific requests in writing.
