Fifth grade band earns gold at NYSSMA Majors
South Country School District’s performing ensembles recently earned high marks at the NYSSMA Majors large ensemble adjudication festival held at Bellport High School.
Impressively, the Frank P. Long Intermediate School fifth grade band earned a gold rating for their technical and artistic skills. This is the first time the group has participated in the festival at this level.
Earning silver at the festival were Bellport High School’s wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, symphonic band and freshman orchestra and Bellport Middle School’s seventh and eighth grade orchestras and sixth grade band.
The district congratulates all the musicians on their hard work and dedication.
