Bellport High School junior named QuestBridge College Prep Scholar

Bellport High School junior Nayla Ortiz Macas has been selected as a 2026 College Prep Scholar through the QuestBridge program, a prestigious recognition awarded to high-achieving students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and personal character. She was among 3,852 students nationwide selected for the honor.

Through the program, Macas hopes to connect with a top college or university where she can pursue her interest in physiology in a challenging and academically rigorous environment.

A standout student at Bellport High School, Macas is a member of both the National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. She is also actively involved in jazz band and Fathom, the school’s literary magazine. Additionally, she serves as treasurer of her class, is a member of student council and participates on her school’s bowling team.

Beyond her academic and extracurricular accomplishments, Macas is dedicated to community service. She volunteers at school music events and at a local farm outside of school, while also organizing and participating in food drives to support those in need.

The South Country School District congratulates Macas on being named to the Prep Scholar program.
