The work of Bellport Middle School students was recently highlighted at the school’s annual curriculum fair. A wide range of projects were on display throughout the building, including creative and interactive character representations developed by sixth grade students. With guidance from their teachers and librarian, the students created physical models of characters from “The Lightning Thief” that “spoke” about facts from the book when touched. They recorded character dialogue in both English and Spanish and incorporated Makey Makey technology to build circuits, allowing the voices to play when participants interacted with them.
