The Emergent Bilingual Leadership Team sponsored Staff Development Day at Brookhaven Elementary School. The Brookhaven team is a recipient of a professional grant from the CUNY-NYSIEB network. The overall goal of the grant is to improve program and practices for emergent bilinguals in schools as well as understand that bilingualism is a resource in education and to promote school wide ecology of multilingualism. Members of the Brookhaven Faculty along with staff from the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan presented information to faculty on how to support the learning needs of emergent bilingual students.
