Mission Statement

 The goal of the South Country Central School District School Counseling department is to assist students, parents, faculty and the community in creating a supportive and nurturing environment that allows every student to achieve their personal best. It is our priority to carry out a comprehensive program that is resourceful in developing effective practices and procedures while efficiently promoting academic achievement and college and career readiness.

Elementary School Counselors

Elementary school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child and adolescent development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, and promote success for today's diverse students. Elementary students are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. Students are developing and acquiring attitudes towards school, self, peers, social groups, and family. (American School Counselor Association - ASCA)
