Science,Technology, Engineering, and Mathmatics (STEM)
Department Vision Statement
In South Country, we believe that STEM learning is for every student, and is an integral part of developing our students as critical thinkers and innovative problem solvers. As part of their learning, students grow as collaborators and communicators about their knowledge. Our programs are designed to follow the New York State Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards, New York State Science Learning Standards, New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, and College Board expectations.
Our students experience Science instruction that incorporates real-world phenomena and hands-on investigations. Our Mathematics instruction provides students with the opportunity to deepen their conceptual understanding along with their procedural fluency. Our students utilize digital tools in their learning where appropriate, and our high school students take Regents-level courses and can choose from a variety of elective and Advanced Placement courses.
