Mission Statement: The goal of the South Country Central School District School Counseling department is to assist students, parents, faculty and the community in creating a supportive and nurturing environment that allows every student to achieve their personal best. It is our priority to carry out a comprehensive program that is resourceful in developing effective practices and procedures while efficiently promoting academic achievement and college and career readiness.
Elementary School Counselors: Elementary school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child and adolescent development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills, and promote success for today's diverse students. Elementary students are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. Students are developing and acquiring attitudes towards school, self, peers, social groups, and family. (American School Counselor Association - ASCA)
