Members of the Athletes Helping Others club at Bellport High School were “Freezin’ for a Reason” as they dove into the icy cold water at Cedar Beach during the Town of Brookhaven Polar Plunge.  Students collected over $700 in donations to help support the participants and their families in the Special Olympics.

Money raised is used to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community.
