- 11:51 a.m.), BMS Auditorium
The
Bellport Lego Robotics Team brought home a trophy for Gracious
Professionalism from the First Legos League Practice Tournament at
Farmingdale State College on December 10th. This prestigious award is
granted to the team who displays good character, teamwork, and
professionalism in competition. The Robotics Team will advance to the
Qualifying Tournament at Berner Middle School in Massapequa on January 28,
2012.

Middle School 8th Grade Assembly: Career Role Models
On Wednesday, November 23, The
Bellport Middle School hosted representatives of the United
States Naval Academy as part of our district’s ongoing
effort to provide information to our middle school students
as they prepare for high school, college and career
experiences. By all accounts, this was a hugely successful
assembly program. The Naval Academy midshipman, all of which
were a product of Long Island schools, one being a district
graduate, provided our students with powerful first-hand
accounts of the preparations and choices that were required
of them as they worked to achieve their goal of entering the
academy. Further, our students were provided with
information regarding the Naval Academy’s summer STEM
(Science Technology Engineering Math) programs. It is our
hope that this assembly, along with the other career and
college informational events that we offer throughout the
year, will provide the spark that will drive our students to
achieve their true potential.

Bellport Middle School Host Civil Air Patrol
Open House
On Tuesday, November 22, The
Bellport Middle School hosted the Civil Air Patrol’s Open
House event. During this event the community was provided
with information regarding career possibilities in the
fields of aviation and aerospace. The event included a
presentation of awards by guest of honor NYS Senator Lee
Zeldin.
