Principal’s Message
Dear Bellport Middle School Families,
We are now at the mid-point in our school year. It certainly has been a whirlwind of activity here at BMS, with many more exciting events on the horizon.
Quarter two is now complete. The quarter culminated in course level mid-term examinations for all core subject courses. Please be sure to review your child’s report card carefully. As always, please feel free to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns in regard to the data that you receive.
Please note the following upcoming items:
In preparation for our upcoming grade NYS examinations in English Language Arts and Mathematics, the Bellport Middle School is offering after school tutorial review sessions. These sessions take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They begin at 2:40pm and run until 3:25pm. Transportation is provided at dismissal.
Our Staff Development Day will take place on Wednesday, February 8th. The plans for this day have been geared toward projects that will help to ensure proper preparation for the upcoming NYS examinations.
Note: Students will not be in school on this day.
The Lego Robotics Club will again be competing within the Lego League tournaments over the next couple of months. Good luck to Ms. Bellante and her team.
Both the History Team and the Math Team are approaching their final competitions. We will continue to post their standings as tournament results come in. Good luck both teams!
BMS Student Government will be sponsoring the Pennies for Patients campaign. This campaign is coordinated through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Grade level assemblies will be used to introduce the program to our students
The Character Counts Committee has done a terrific job in regard to its “Caught Being Good” program. Throughout Semester 2 students will be selected to receive the “Student of the Month” award.
Please continue to check the BMS webpage for upcoming events and highlights as the semester unfolds.
Note: This message will be updated quarterly.
Mr. Brian J. Ginty Principal Bellport Middle School 730.1648 “Results First…Children Always.”
