Welcome
to Room 13. Sit back and enjoy the ride as we take you on a journey of
learning and discovery.
Room 13 has
embarked on a mission unlike any other. Our classroom has this unique
distinction and honor. Our goal: Make learning an enlightening
experience that will inspire your child to continue a life of inquiry and
exploration.
Our
Woodworking Program has entered its 4th year and has delighted
hundreds of children at the Frank P. Long School. Projects include
birdhouses, birdfeeders, footstools, corner shelves, magazine racks, book
stands, and flower pots.
Children
learn to work responsibly with T-squares, levels, tape measures, wood
clamps, carpenter's glue, and hand sanders. The children are also
taught how important it is to follow directions and practice proper safety.
Eye protection is worn at all times when working with tools. The
children also learn about hard and soft woods while working with white and
yellow pine, poplar, oak, and mahogany.
Our
Garden
Club has also thrilled hundreds of children over the past 4 years.
Our courtyard has been transformed into a place of beauty and inquiry.
Children have learned about composting, soil preparation, fertilizing,
annuals, perennials, and the overall care of their environment.
So sit back and
enjoy the view.
