GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS
AUTOMOBILES
SENIORS ONLY are granted the privilege of parking their cars on school grounds. To qualify for this privilege, seniors must meet the following conditions:
1) Must be at least 17 years old
2) Must have a SENIOR LICENSE
3) Must maintain eligibility criteria based on academics and behavior
4) Must attend Driver Orientation session
All student cars parked on school grounds must be registered with BHS Administration and a parent-student contract must be signed at the beginning of the school year when you will be issued a permit for your car. This sticker must be displayed on your car.
No car is to be unlocked or taken from the school grounds until dismissal at the end of the school day without written permission from the administration.
Careful driving practices and speed limits, posted on the grounds, must be observed. Five (5) mph is the limit on the grounds. PARK ONLY IN ROWS RESERVED FOR STUDENTS.
Use of the parking lot makes you responsible for your actions there. Cars are subject to search by school personnel when there is reason to suspect illegal substances or stolen property are in these cars.
The number of permits issued will depend on the number of available spaces. No student is guaranteed a parking space. All students receiving a permit are expected to arrive at school on time.
Violators of these regulations will have their permits revoked and will not be permitted to use the parking field.
Only students who have valid parking permits should be allowed to drive.
LIMITATIONS OF A JUNIOR LICENSE
A student who is still 16 and passes a road test, even if he/she has successfully completed the Driver Education Program, is still limited by a Junior License and the following restrictions apply in Nassau/Suffolk Counties:
1) The student may drive a vehicle appropriate to his or her license directly to or from a state approved cooperative work-study program. Carry form MV-287A with the license.
2) The student may drive directly to or from an approved program for credit at a post secondary institution, college or university. Carry form MV-287A with the license.
3) The student may drive directly to or from a state approved registered evening high school. Carry form MV-287A with a license.

6) If enrolled in a driver education course, he/she may drive a vehicle accompanied by his or her licensed parent or professional driving instructor between 5 A.M. and 9 P.M.
PLEASE NOTE: An interpretation of the above guidelines basically prohibits students from driving to and from high school without a parent, until a regular operator’s privileges are obtained at age 17 and the student has received a Certificate of Completion.
