History Club
History is the story of the past. The club's major concern is evidence on primary sources. These
sources include letters, official documents,
articles, poems, memoirs and photographs. Club members will choose projects that
piece together verifiable facts in order to find out not only what happened, but
why it happened as it did. A possible project this year is the creation of an
art mural based on photos and documents of the historic sites and locations of
Bellport. Members of the club will work closely with the Bellport
Historical Museum.
The Bellport High School History Club will be hosting two question and answer
sessions featuring local Candidates for the House of Representatives. On
Thursday, October 16th at 9:00AM, challenger Lee Zeldin will come to the high
school library to answer questions from our students about pressing federal
issues. On Monday, October 20th at 9:00AM, Congressman Tim Bishop will do the
same. Club members and other interested students are excited about the prospect
of having these current and prospective legislators make time to discuss the
topics that shape the 2008 election.
