Reading for Learning
Computer Club members explore the various aspects of
computer technology by trying a variety of software, conducting independent
projects, volunteering for community service projects and discussing
information and the printed word in books (print and on-line), magazines, newspapers, e-zines, poetry, lyrics, websites,
databases, and search engines. Club members run fund-raisers each year, go on
field trips to local information technology sites, and read to
elementary school children in the elementary schools of the district.
Web Designers
Computer Club members (formerly the Literary/ Computer Club) were the original designers/webmasters of Bellport High
School's Web Page. They created and maintained this web site till 2006 after
putting it up in February 2001. The site now provides the community with
information on virtually all aspects of our high school. The club now focuses on
new technology.
Activities
Weekly meetings include discussions on current
books, articles, technology, digital art and web design. Members also confer
with the SCSD Website Club, and students taking the Web Design class. Computer
game tournaments are organized in the fall and spring.
