Why Women Read More Than Men September 5, 2007 - Recent studies confirm what publishing executives have long suspected: women read more than men. It's not clear why but theories abound, ranging from early childhood development to the differences between the male and female brain. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/ story.php?storyId=14175229&sc=nl&cc=es-20070921 |

Fines:
We do not charge fines - but we do charge the price of the
book if you lose it. Lost hard cover books cost the replacement
cost of the book. Money is refunded if the book is found. You
will not get your report card (short term) or your cap and gown (long term) if
all library accounts are not reconciled.
Conduct:
Respect your neighboring students and teachers in the
library.
Students are expected to work on assignments or school related projects, or read
quietly.
The library is set up for research not socializing.
Please leave any food or drinks at the front counter.
Computers
Computers are for educational use only as spelled out in the
District
Technology Acceptable Use Policy within the District's Web Page
(in
school link)/(at home link).
A portion of this policy is taped next to each terminal. Your library privileges
will be withdrawn for violations. Stay on task.
Coming to the Library:
During Your Study Hall -
Be one of the four students on the Library Pass that your
study hall teacher has. Come directly to the library and we will give you a pass
to other places you did not have time to go. Come with your group or there are
dire consequences.
During Lunch -
You MUST get a white Library Lunch Pass from Mrs. Wong
during passing in the morning BEFORE you come for your lunch period. That way we
can tell how many may be coming from each lunch period & you
will know if you will be able to have a computer (Classes get first dibs).
Plagiarism:
Read this and you will understand:
"Plagiarism:
What It is and How To Recognize It and Avoid It", produced by Writing
Tutorial Services, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
Learning Your Way Around:
Every ninth grade English class gets a one or two day
orientation to the library - your teacher may have this tied to an assignment as
well. BEFORE YOU COME, MAKE SURE YOUR USER ID AND PASSWORD WORK BY COMING TO THE
LIBRARY AND TRYING THEM OUT! We try to cover the library's layout, the OPAC, the
databases, and any other questions or concerns that come up. We want you to be
brilliant information researchers when you graduate.
