Hooked On Books Summer Reading Program
We would like to encourage our students to
continue reading during the summer recess. To
begin the "Hooked On Books" Reading Program the
PTA purchased one book for each student.
As an incentive, each child will be receiving a
"Hooked On Books" reading sheet where they will
record each book that they have read. In
September, the sheets will be returned to the
classroom teacher and those students who have
met or exceeded their goal will be invited to an
"Ice Cream Social."
We hope
everyone will participate and parents will
encourage their child to read over the summer.
To assist parents and students in the program, a
summer reading list has been compiled by the
elementary school librarians.
The list
provides book suggestions appropriate for the
elementary reading level. The children's
librarians at the
South Country Library
and the
Brookhaven Free Library
have these books available and will be happy to
assist the children in making their selection.
