"The sun did not shine,

it was too wet to play.

So we sat in the house

all that cold, cold, wet day!"

We read Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat and the students talked about what they like to do on rainy days.  Then they wrote about it on raindrops.

We also read There's a Wocket in my Pocket and made our own version, There's a Wunchbox in my Lunchbox.  The students had fun making "nonsense" words that rhyme with our classroom words.

After reading Green Eggs and Ham, we made it in our classroom.  Most students gave it a thumbs-up!

Not everyone was a fan, though :)!

  • We also read Horton Hatches the Egg, a story about an elephant who takes care of a bird egg, and when the egg finally hatches, it's half-bird and half-elephant!  The students picked 2 animals to cross, thought of a new name and wrote about their new character.  some of the funny names were "monmingo" (monkey and flamingo), "tidog" (tiger and dog), and zelion (can you guess?).

  • We celebrated Wacky Wednesday after reading the Dr. Seuss book.  The students wore their clothes backwards, inside out, and wore funny ties and shoes. They worked to create a wacky scene and wrote about it.
