Second Grade |
|
Second grade students further their knowledge of music notation by creating their own rhythm compositions. They also continue to learn proper playing technique for a variety of Orff instruments. By the end of second grade, each student has had experience playing in small ensembles, which helps to prepare them for larger ensembles such as the Third Grade Chorus. There is still a heavy emphasis on the singing voice and vocal experimentation. Students also learn what causes sound and how different instruments produce a sound. We have extensive discussions about the instruments of the orchestra and how each of the instruments in the brass, woodwind, and string families produces its sound. |
