Students create art through experimentation of various art techniques, create at least one art book, explore ideas through group projects, and explore ideas such as self-portraits, landscapes, and still-lifes. Students increase competency in various art medias and continue knowledge of clay, watercolor, tempera paint, craypas, markers, crayons, and printmaking. Art vocabulary is incorporated into all lessons and elements and principals of design are introduced.  Socialization is encouraged through group work and participation in the ART CLUB. Students further their understanding of classroom concepts by reiterating directions and objectives in their own words. Connections are made to language arts, P.E., music, and library.  Students view work of other artists for ideas, discussion, and to further their understanding of art concepts.
Reinforcement of responsible behaviors is encouraged by allowing students to look at art room books and literature. Art Club members are allowed to borrow books for one week only.
