Selected to Represent the MET PGA at Elite Ryder
Cup Academy
(4/4/12)The
PGA Ryder Cup team offers 1 scholarship to a
male and female golfer in all of the
Metropolitan Section. To enter you had to turn
in a 2 page essay, transcript, list of community
service, and letters of recommendation as well
as a letter from the local golf professional.
The winner gets 8 day all-expense paid trip to
Port St. Lucie Florida at the PGA Village and
will be trained by past Ryder Cup professional
golfers as well as club pros! Only 40 golfers
were chosen in the country...more
Bellport's HEADstong Foundation Fundraiser
(3/25/12)
On Sunday, March 25th Bellport lacrosse hosted a
fundraiser for the HEADstrong Foundation at
Bellport High School. The inaugural
fundraiser was organized by varsity head coach
Justin White. Eleven Long Island schools
participated in the event...more.
National "Letter of Intent" Signings
(2/2012)
Congratulations to seniors, Eddie Gibbons,
Justin Honce and Bianca Lastra, three of our
Bellport stars who have made their college
choices official!
Quarterback
Justin Honce signed his letter of intent to
Brown University. Honce was named the National
Football Foundation's Suffolk top
scholar-athlete. He holds a 96 GPA, was an
Academic All-Division selection and is a member
of the National Honor Society. Honce finished
second in voting to Sayville's Steven Ferreira
for the Boomer Esaison Award, given to the most
outstanding quarterback in Suffolk County.
Boys soccer player Eddie Gibbons signed with
Holy Cross University. Eddie was a two-year, All
League player and a four year Varsity player.
Gibbons finished the 2011 season with 8 goals
and 3 assists, while leading the Clippers to a
7-7-2 overall record.
Girls soccer player Bianca Lastra made her
commitment official to Adelphi University.
Bianca is a four year Varsity starter and a two
year Varsity captain. She is also an All
County player and a two-time Team MVP.
Bianca has the distinction of receiving the
Suffolk County Girls Soccer Association Scholar
Athlete Award.

Boys Bowling Suffolk County
Singles Championship
Sean Millsap won the Suffolk County Singles Championship in Boys
Bowling. Sean will be competing in the New York State
Championships on March 3rd and 4th in Waverly, New York. Sean
has a 206 season average.

Justin Honce was
named “Top Scholar Athlete” by the
National Football Foundation's
Suffolk County Chapter at the 2011
Suffolk County Scholar Athlete
Brunch. Justin was named to the
“Golden Eleven” which goes to the
top 11 scholar athletes that have
achieved “All-County” honors or
higher. Out of that eleven Justin
took home the top honor.
At the same
brunch, Coach Joe Cipp Jr.,
was inducted into the Suffolk County
Chapter of the
National Football Foundations Hall
of Fame.

Girls' Varsity Track
5k Turkey Trot, Sunday, November 27, 2011
 Girls'
Varsity Track hosted a 5k Turkey Trot on
November 27th. All were invited to lace up
join the community in support of this wonderful
event. It is the Team's major fundraising
event. The money is not only used to fund away
track events, but goes in major part to the
Track Team's Community Service Events. Last year
they visited a Veteran's Hospital and sponsored
a family who had a child battling leukemia. In
addition the coaches' were able to provide
scholarships to graduating seniors.

Football to be Featured on Traditions TV
 Tune
into the SNY network, (Channel 60 on Cable TV), on
Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 12 noon to watch Bellport
Football as featured on
Traditions TV. Bellport was one of six schools in the
entire northeast who were selected.
